I've been trying to find the place where my Dad ws born on the 1911, I can find it on the 1901, Grappenhall District 13, it's easy enough, but it's just not turning up on the 1911, should be same district. In 1901 the occupier was Elizabeth Tetlow aged 50 and so possibly she wasn't still there in 1911. The Farm should be enumerated with Reddish Hall and Grappenhall Lodge close by, can anyone take the time to spot it for me please?

Have I got the right Grappenhall............it shows 44 streets but no Bell House Lane.
Sorry it's in the district of Runcorn.
Craft:
I've not got the 1911 census, so I've no idea how you carry out a search on it but (if you actually enter the road name) it might help to search for Bellhouse Lane, rather than Bell House Lane. That appears to be the current spelling. (Bell House Farm still exists. It houses the office of the Parish Council.

Elizabeth Tetlow lived in Hall Brow Farm in 1901 didn't she?
This is a farm on Cartridge Lane (if you look at the 1901 census the top address is in Cartridge Lane)

Question Author
yes then it is Reddish Hall then Bell House Farm, not Hall Brow, if you look at the written enumerators route at the start of the ED on the 1901 it says Bell House then Cartridge Lane.
I know it's still there, they converted the house to the parish council offices and the barn to a youth and community centre
Question Author
oh is that one the 1911? The Bradfords were on the 1901 there too, thanks that will find it i think
Sorry dotty but if Elizabeth Tetlow is in the farm you want in 1901 it definitely says the farm is called Hall Brow Farm, it's next along from Reddish Hall.

I give up, I'm too tired to look anymore, thanks anyway, cartridge lane is further south than bell house lane, yet my great grandfather is on the 1911 just a couple of households away from where bell house should be, he lived about a quarter of a mile nearer to Stockton Heath than bell house on stockton lane, I've been looking for most of the night but it's just not showing, I'll get back to it tomorrow, thanks
Question Author
I've had another go at this search and approached it from a cartographers view! I've worked out that Bellhouse or Bell House Lane was originally Tanners Lane and that the farm that became Bell House and is on the 1891 as that, was enumerated just as a 'Tanners Lane' household, on the 1891 it is exactly where I had expected to find it on the 1901 and 1891 but actally named as Bell House, even on the ed route description for 1901 it is listed, but Tanners Lane isn't, yet when you scroll throught the pages, Tanners Lane is enumerated in the exact order that the enumerator wrote Bell house lane in his route description, there is ony one farm in that lane and so that's been an easy choice, but how flippin annoying! Mind you, where my great grandfather lived at Mountain Farm, that changed it's name to Dairy Farm after he left and went to Danesway at Thelwell, thanks,

Bloody hell I'm good me, I've just saved the image of the census page for the farm I've decided by elimination should be Bellhouse in 1911 and when it's downloaded and the image came up full screen, in the signature box at the bottom right Hugh Henry Barber has signed his name and added 'Bellhouse Farm Grappenhall' lol
Question Author
I've checked ancestry members and the great grandson of Hugh Henry Barber hasn't found him on the 1911 and so I've just sent him the details, (his grandmother is aged 3 in 1911 at Bell House and she's still alive now! ) and, wierdly, 2 generations earlier on the wife's side, the ancestors are farming in the same lane as mine at Great Budworth!
So it's this one.............................
BARBER, Hugh Henry Head Married M 33 1878 Farmer Cheshire Aston by Budworth
BARBER, Felicia Wife Married 3 years F 27 1884 Cheshire Grappenhall
BARBER, Sarah Jane Daughter F 3 1908 Cheshire Grappenhall
BROUGHTON, Annie Servant F 14 1897 Servant Domestic Cheshire Lymm
EGAN, Martin Servant Single M 28 1883 Labourer On Farm Ireland Galway

Question Author
Yes, if you actually look at the bottom right on the original image, Hugh Barber has put his address as BellHOUSE fARM. Don't understand why the enumerator has written Bellhouse Lane in his route and then called it Tanners Lane on each of the schedule cover pages
Question Author
The ancestry member I emailed before with the info on her grandma at BellHouse on the 1911 has just mailed me back, she's chuffed to bits and had no idea her family had been there.
