Parkdale House, Ettymore Road, Sedgley, Staffordshire

Can anyone find any information on the above house and it's occupants please? I understand my ancestors may have lived there in the early 1900s (but they are at their business premises across the road on the 1911 census) .................... can anyone tell me anything? Does the house still stand? TIA

It looks like Parkdale House was 5 Ettmore Road on the 1911 census as the occupant, a Wilfred Sutcliffe has called it Parkdale on the original census return.

Well that's not much help as John Henry Rann at number 8 also calls his house Parkdale.............

Thanks Craft - and it seems that's the case too today - the surname I was looking for was Butler, but they are at their busimess premises at 1 Bull Ring on the 1911 ....... confused!!

If you look Ettymore Road on Google street view the only old houses seem to be across the road from Age Concern. AG is at number 6 so I assume the old houses are 1-7.

I'd ring Age Concern in that road on 01902 883847 and see if they've heard of it. I once rang a hairdressers in the Shetlands when searching for my grandad's old barber shop and they told me where it had been!!

the Wilfred sutcilffe on the 1911 above will have been born at Ovenden,(pronounced Ofenden) my great great grandmother had a shop there about 1890, it's just outside Eastwood Todmorden, have you looked for that address on the 1901?

Am confused Dotty - the house I am looking for is in Sedgley, Staffordshire - between Wolverhampton and Dudley ...... where is Todmorden?

hi, Todmorden is where Ovenden is, and in craft's first reply here she lists William Sutcliffe as living at 5 Ettmore Rd on the 1911 born 'Orenden' but the transcription must have been wrong as it is Ovenden.
