Is this your mother. Margaret born 1916 chester le Street if so
then she may belong to this family of 1916 census

Wife Hannah Jane born 1895 Sacriston married 5 years
Daughter Henrietta b0rn 1898
" Mary Ann born 1909
" Isabella born 1910
Son Thomas born 1911
^ 1911 census.
Sorry Craft is right 1911 census
Question Author
Sorry ironmonger Margaret was born 15 Feb 1913.It seems that she was born in 2 Southview. Her mother was married to Frederick Wilkinson at this time. Her mothers name was Hannah Wilkinson.thanks.
The Margaret Maddison born in 1916 in Chester le Street had a mother with a maiden name of Harrison.
The Hannah Jane Maddison shown in the above census entry had a maiden name of Robson.
Question Author
Hannahs maiden name was Walter I think she might have married Thomas Maddison at some time after her husband Frederick Wilkinson died.
Hannah Wilkinson married Thomas Maddison Q4 1916 in Houghton.

spurbro why is it so important to find who lived with them in 1916?
Funnt 'cos the only Margaret Wilkinson I can find with the mother's maiden name of Walter was born in 1915, not 1913.
Question Author
Thanks Where does Thomas Maddison fit in as I believe he was possibly Margaret Wilkinsons father and they would be in the same house as Hannah.
Ah I see...........well no I'm afraid I cannot help you there as the only housing records I can access are the censuses, the latest being 1911 where Hannah was still living with her husband.
What makes you think Margaret was Thomas Maddison's as she was born before Frederick Wilkinson died?

It seems that in1911 Thomas Maddison lived at 2 South View with 2 elderly people on Margarets birth certificate in 1913 it gives that she was born there.
Hi spurbro
I have just been looking at a very good site it is.
Durham Records online then click parish records it is free.
Unfortunately I am confused by all the names you have but
you may be able to sort them out.
Good luck. Harry
Question Author
Thanks Harry.Sorry for the confusion. On my mothers birth certificate (Margaret Wilkinson) there is no fathers name only her mothers Hannah Wilkinson. My mother was born at 2 South View where Thomas Maddison lived I believe Hannah married Thomas in 1916.I hope this explaines the situation.regards
Sorry spurbro I think you are going to have to assume that Thomas Maddison is Margaret's father. If there was no father listed on the birth certificate, and Hannah was at that time still married to Frederick Wilkinson but didn't put his name down I would be quite happy to say she was Thomas' daughter. Hannah only married Thomas Maddison after Frederick died in 1916.
As far as I am aware there is no online record for 1916 to show who lived at that address.
