Ann86- Elsie Selby Darch (nee Brown) m 1922 George Darch
Cannot find a death for George but Elsie died in 1985. I have looked around the same date but cannot find anything at the moment. Do you know who died first ?
I found an old brooch in a tin the other day. It was black enamel and a jeweller said it`s a mourning brooch. Apparently they used to put a lock of the dead person`s hair in the back. It was inscribed - Ann Clarke died 7/3/1866 aged 65. I wondered if she was a relative of mine (probably North Devon if she was).
It would seem likely....................8 children were born named Darch with the mother's maiden name as Brown, between 1922 and 1938, the last one being born in Plymouth.
I assume this would be George in 1911 at High Street Combe Martin Devon

'' No there is only one daughter called mabel the other mabel is the mother aged 24. Winifred Melia was born late 1911 and her mother's maiden name was Mabel Hickson, another lead for you there trt ''
Any chance you could send me a link to the information you found out above?
hi trt, if you sign into your ancestry account and then look at the England and Qales freeBMD, birth index 1837 - 1915, search the index for Winifred Melia born 1911in Chorlton reg district and you get this:

annasquith - I thought it was only a marriage cert you wanted, sorry. I couldnt find one anywhere. Couldnt even find him on 1901 or 1911 census, but I dont know if the census` for Scotland for those dates is available yet
A Canadian relative of mine is trying to find where her paternal grandparents are buried and when they died. She has their birth and marriage certificates but can't seem to get any further.
Grandfather Tom Wallis born 10/06/1889 at 16 Hilltop, Armley, Leeds. He married a widow, Emily Sowden nee Fotherby.
She is away from home at the moment on holiday and this is the only information she can remember. Can you help from this please. Thank you.
The best I can find is Emily Fotherby born 1894 in Leeds married William H Sowden in 1913 in Holbeck, William born 1891, died 1919.
Emily married Tom Wallis in 1923 in Holbeck.
I think they both died in Leeds, Emily in 1945, and Tom in 1943. As Wallis is not a uncommon name you may need the certificates to make sure.
Emily is Leeds, Q3, 9b 337
Tom is Leeds, Q2, 9b 432
