Father's remains

I am trying to find the remains of my father. I had been told since he died that he was buried but when I began looking for his grave, I was actually informed that he had been cremated. How do I find him?? Please, this is painful to me..i would really appreciate some help

here in the uk if no one takes the ashes to dispose of them theirselves then they are usually scattered in the garden of remembrance at the cremation sight, at least thats what happened with my dads, hope this helps
