One of my ancesters died in 1888 leaving an estate worth £65 . 14 shillings. 5 pence. Any idea how much that would be worth today. I wondered if there was a site that might do some comparisons of wages as well . Thanks everyone.

Very different values depending on how you do the comparison. A lot of Victorians would have thought an income of £100 per annum was a good living, so a bequest of £65 wasn't to be sneezed at!
Which site did you use to find the will? I am researching family history and would find details of wills very useful. thanks
This calculator only starts from 1900 but it will still give you a good guide as to the 'inflation adjusted' value of the sum you refer to:
