Can anyone out there give me a rough estimate of the value of a WW1 Military Medal. There's no paperwork with it, all I know is that it was awarded to my wife's grandfather.

A typical 'Buy It Now' price on eBay:

If that's the wrong medal, look through these:

(Remember that what people ask for items on eBay isn't necessarily the same as what buyers will actually pay!)

Would it be one of these

Nicknamed Tom, Dick and Harry or Pip, Squeak and Wilfred which everybody who fought in WWI got?

I think they go for about £10 or so each
The Military Medal (MM) was a specific military decoration awarded to personnel below commissioned rank for bravery in battle on land, the other ranks' equivalent to the Military Cross (MC) which was awarded to commissioned officers.

The MM was the third-level decoration for other ranks until discontinuation in 1993. The MC now serves as the third-level award for gallantry on land for all ranks of the British Armed Forces.

Furthermore, if of interest, since all military awards of gallantry and meritorious service were, and still are, announced in the London Gazette, a search of their website (surname, "military medal", 1916 to 1919) should produce a copy of that announcement.
