We need to compile the true history of AB before the Ed's Apotheosis leads to its being mythologised.
Whose idea was it? When did it start? Who were the original contributors and are any still contributing now?

Is that true Andy - or is it a myth?
oh, and I think it was 2000 and owned originally, or early on, by Associated newspapers, the Daily Mail people
no myth. His current name only dates from 2005 but I think he started with a slightly earlier one.

This was the first question

i have been on AB since early 2003 (i was previously buttons, but lost my account to hackers :( ) if i remember right there were lots of questions about cheerios adverts and yucca plants back in those days LOL
lol, johnlambert replied to that -now theres a blast from the past.

Mustve been a real leap of faith to post a question on a 'virgin' site with no knowledge of how successful you will be in getting an answer!
and admarlow was on that one - I think he's still about.
I suspect the limited number of staff spent the first three years answering each other's questions.
yes, took admarlow 6 years to come with an answer, though, and it was off-topic.
I've been here since 2003 too MrsLee...haha, yes yuccas everywhere but thanks to 'good advice' from some us gardeners I think they're now extinct. Don't mention 'tasty, tasty, very very tasty' :o)
Is the longest thread still going. I think Ive answered it twice but cant find it on my profile now so it must be a while ago ??
i remember asking a question after JK Rowling announced the title of her next book was going to be The Half Blood Prince, and i asked who did people think it was and i ended up with over 2500 answers!! mental
