Surely not everyone turned a blind eye to it?, did the police not get any reports of what was happening or did they dismiss every report?
Out of all the kids he abused, surely one of them must've told their parents and one of them would've at least lamped him at the earliest opportunity.
I'm not defending the beast but it just seems odd that he got away with it for so long

They've just quoted a woman on the BBC TV news who was assaulted when she was 11 - she reported it, her nurse believed her but the sister in charge told her "not to be so stupid, don't you know who he is and what he does for the hospital?" - nuff said. They're talking about a notification going round the nursing staff telling them to watch out for his behaviour. Appalling.
come on boxie give the whole quote
the girl persisted and her father raised hell ( shouted at the end of the ward )
and then wrote a letter of complaint
which was not forwarded.
The report investigator was a paragon of virtue and said at this point the heavens should have opened, reports compiled and head rolled
and I thought - hmm in the eighties it just wasnt like that

Sorry but that is a stupid statement.
As has been pointed out, there have been FAR more evil people in history, and on their scale Saville does not even register.
I have a book at home called "Most evil men and women in history" and it lists dozens and dozens of people, from all countries and all periods, who killed millions of people between them (Stalin killed about 20 million).
In fairly recent times we have had Stalin, Hitler, Pol pot, Chairmen Mao, and now the Muslim group IS.
In fact we the British have done our share of evil things, taking over countries and killing thousands in the process. The USA and Russia and Germany have also done the same.
During the second world war, when the Germans entered a certain village, they took all the men out to a field and shot them in cold blood, then put all the women and children in a church and set fire to it. THAT is evil.
No sorry, Saville does not even register on the same scale as some of them.

Non other than Margaret Thatcher must take a very large portion of the blame for Savile's freedom to do as he liked in Stoke Mandeville and other hospitals, she regarded him as a hero and almost worshiped him.

She personally instructed that he must be allowed to do whatever he wanted without hinderance. With an endorsement like that it's no wonder people felt unable to complain. She even gave him her private phone number and told him he could contact her direct if he had any problems!

quite so, Eddie, and we know how the Establishment protects its own.
I disagree with those saying "Hitler was worse". Hitler was a politician who for all I know never killed anyone. It's in the nature of politics that leaders send people off to war, to kill or be killed. Pretty well all leaders of big countries have blood on their hands. It doesn't mean Cameron is somehow on a par with Savile; they're two different categories.
Savile and Shipman belong in the same boat.

several of you who have posted on here, have posted on other threads today condemning those that would condemn someone without the due process of law having taken place.
savile has never been tested in court. in the absence of legal process, why is it OK to vilify savile's alleged conduct and not that of others?
it smacks of hypocrisy, guys.
