I'd rather he was simply forgotten. He doesn't deserve to be remembered, even as someone infamous.
You really should not have bothered typing his name then, (one L in Savile)
this is a typical case of recall bias

historically there have been much more evil people only the memory has faded

If you look at related Questions, below, they have all spelt his Surname wrong as well!
It's Savile, and I agree with you.

..... who?
What on a par with Genghis Khan who managed to kill 1/3rd of the entire population of the Earth ( a lot of them personally) Or Hitler?
Saville was undoubtedly evil but I do not remember him killing anyone.
I am NOT defending him but surely a mass murderer must be on a different level of 'evil'
Yep. and even now, people who worked with him say how nice he was, how he made people laugh.... there was a medical secretary on the radio this morning who'd been at Stoke Mandeville, she was clearly finding it hard to believe. And all that time, he had direct unfettered access to severely disabled people in that hospital. I wish he were still alive, so he could stand trial. Evil man.
.

They may be talking about Lord Justice Saville who did the bloody sunday irish inquiry - total cost £ 150 - 220 m
PP I agree, he was perverted rather than evil. he wasn't exactly on a par with Hitler for example.
Sadly I have to agree with Peter.
Savile was a monster but there have been others just as bad in the past, will be on the future and are in the present.

I'm sick seeing him on the media photographs/video's. just really sorry he died before his evilness was disclosed.
That is the shame of it Anne and why it's stirred up such strong feelings. he died happy and hallowed,

Yes he was a bad person. But you have to ask yourself... who was worse? He, or the people that knew what he was up to... and turned a blind eye!!!
excellent point, mastercraft.
I am in no doubt that he was worse.

Talbot, extra L for L on earth!!
Yep - still dead!
He had that ghastly smokescreen of caring so much about his mother, the Duchess, too.....

The lady this morning spoke warmly of all the fundraising he did for the hospital, etc. A hugely clever and vile smokescreen.
