"shield-Like" Attachment...

Can anyone identify a small shield-like attachment, hung from the belt of actress Carey Mulligan in the film, Far from the madding crowd.
She plays the owner of a large farm and the "shield" appears to have a monogram in its centre, Surrounded by nine brass rivets of some sort.
