Did You Know That
Three months after her birth in May 1819, another baby was born, this time a boy whose father was brother of the Duchess of Kent. This was his second son, named Albert, who would become Victoria's husband, Prince Albert. So these two were first cousins, their parents being brother and sister.

Medical science has moved on a lot since Victoria's day and we now know that first cousin marriages can cause problems for any children they may have.
Do you think that the fact of Victoria's marriage (and other aristos and influential people historically and more recently) is the reason that first cousin marriages are unlikely to be made illegal?

The internet has completely changed learning or - - access to knowledge. One evg class, I told the teenage punters that a law case - get into car, drive to law library, get inside, fanny around with law citator (whatever that is), find series ( AER, etc ), find volume and page....
and the Polka said - - oh the uni library has one set text for a course, it was open 24h a day, and people wd book hour slots when - - they would go in and copy it out!

Princess Charlotte was in labour ( father was the future King of the Belgians ) and the obstetrician ( or surgeon -accoucheur ) went to bed before the third stage was completed following a still birth. He was woken to told that Princess and heiress to the throne was - - DDDDYYYYYIIIIINNNNGGGG ! She did. He shot himself following criticism by all and sundry - - three down
