Did he really allow seperate religions in Jerusalem, and was thisone of the reasons for the crusaders and Templars please?

The crusades began because Europe was horrified at the idea of the holy land being in unholy hands (and because the church was trying to flex its muscles over secular monarchies). In general, Saladin's behaviour was much better and more chivalrous than that of the crusader leaders, who included a lot of thugs. The Templars, like the Knights of St John, were set up to defend pilgrims and guard the holy land.
