I believe it was the ROC ( Royal Observer Corps).
Was not the ROC, ran from 1925 to 8th Dec 1995
The UK has three armed forces, The Army, The Navy and the RAF,

The RAF was formed in 1918, The Army and Navy are still around.

toureman, the question has me baffled too, can't find any information that's why i tried here.

the question in full is.....
which of the british armed forces created in 1917 was dissolved at the end of october 1993?
the Wrens (though I think they were inactvie between the wars)
Could it be the WOMEN'S ROYAL NAVAL SERVICE?

There seems to be a bit of conflicting information but the link below, from the Royal Navy Museum, says it was created in 1917 and disbanded as a separate service in 1993.

Doh jno, I just missed out there, was searching for weblinks before posting! ;)
might be the WRAC, or Womens Royal Army Corps as they were kniow, I dont know when they were disbanded though
According to Wikipedia, the WRAC wasn't formed until 1949 and disbanded in 1992

we knew them as: Weekly Ration Army C**t or growndsheets, they had a reputation for being easy meat.
