Hi. My work is having a medieval themed xmas party. Can anyone suggest any characters that might be possible to replicate?
There will be about 20 of us so the more suggestions the better.
TIA

Go as Baldrick or Blackadder
Medieval knights and ladies? Wenches? King Arthur, Guinevere? Shakespeare? Joan of Arc? Dracula? Anne Boleyn (minus the head lol)?
Have you checked out "fancy dress" on google?
:)
If one of you goes as Baldrick, another can go dressed as Robin Hood (with a small painted wooden duck on his head, of course)
Henry viii a lady or

a knight would be good especially on Christmas Eve
Dracula? Medieval? You might as well dress up as Batman but make sure you have an extra large 'medieval style' codpiece.
Try dressing up as Geoffrey Chaucer as he existed in the period in question not outside of it like Henry VIII.
... well, you can replicate kings, queens, knights, barons, ladies. wenches etc quite easily. There are authentic medieval pictures here, here, here, and here to get you thinking on designs for your costumes ...

For those of you wondering why Henneth is off on one, "Medieval" officially ended in 1485, which, when attending a fancy dress party, is vitally important to know apparently for the sake of historical accuracy :)
In his spare time Henneth ( whose parents couldn't spell Kenneth) enjoys correcting other people's mistakes, laughing at people who foolishly think that a party should be fun and not historically accurate and pulling the eyelashes from kittens.
Chill out mate, the Tudors are near enough for most people as is Vlad, and only kidding by the way.
For all we know this Christmas party could be organised by the History Department of Oxford University and there are the other members of staff dressed as Richard the Lionheart, John Wycliff and Thomas Becket then Pixie rolls up in a bedcloth as Mahatma Ghandi. My concern is for the original poster so he/she would not get embarassed turning up in some anacronistic garb at the works do.
P.S. Don't turn up with any potato based products. Chips and crisps are right out. Jugs of wine or mead are fine. Turn off your mobile phone. Don't use a toilet, pee out of a window, etc.
Why not go as plague victims?
Well you could have Dracula, or to be precise Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler) he was the person Dracula was based on and he lived in medieval times (1431 - 1476) and was Prince of Wallachia (in Romania) several times, so in a way to dress as Dracula is quite acceptable!
Most people in the mediaeval period were also crawling with lice (not to mention fleas as well), or are you going to be let off the vermin?
