Does anyone know if or why green cars are considered unlucky? A friend of mine got a hefty discount off a green car quite recently because the forecourt salesman said he couldn't shift it due to people's superstitions! Just wondering if anyone else had ever heard the same thing..

It's true!! My boyfriend has had about 5 cars. The only one he had an accident in, and accumulated speeding points in was the green one. Also, his father has only ever had one serious accident...you guessed it...green car! Especially thought to be unlucky in the countryside - blend in with hedges, and they are dark..

It's not just cars - green is considered unlucky anyway. I did have a mini that was written off by a drunk driver who smashed it off the road when it was parked, I wasn't in it fortunately. The mini was green.

we had a green subaru impreza which we loved. Never unlucky for us at all. BUT, we sold it and 3 weeks later the guy who bought it wrapped it around a tree. he was fine, fortunately (testimony to the strength and build quality of scoobys) but car was a write off.

I was told that your car would never get stolen if it was green! My family had a green Honda and we had absolutely no problems with it at all. I loved that car. It was about a hundred million years old but it is the first car in my living memory that I was driven in. aaaaahhh the memories...

Statistically speaking motor racing green cars are the colour of car most likely to be involved in an accident. This is waht I was told by a friend who works in insurance.

Insurance company reports prove that, statistically, more accidents involve green cars than another other colour cars.

I've always been told that green cars are statistically more likely to be involved in an accident because they blend in more with the surrounding colours (well in the countryside anyway!). Guess on that principle grey ones are risky in town :-)
