Vintage Watch Inscription

I have recently inherited a silver officers watch with an inscription on the back saying

"Rev.H.Ingham from Bowen Bombay 1919"

Can anyone advise on how i can track down who this is?

If you google Rev.H.Ingham from Bowen Bombay 1919

there are a couple of links (now Mumbai) which might throw a clue, but I haven't read through them - names may fit though

At first glance, 'Bowen Bombay' would appear to refer to the prominent missionary George Bowen. However he died on the 5th of February, 1888:

So it seems likely that the watch was a gift from an organisation named in his honour. A likely candidate is the Bowen Memorial Methodist Church in Bombay (now Mumbai):

So it's possible that Rev H Ingham was a long-serving (or retiring) minister of the church, who received the watch in recognition of his service.

The present church minister, Rev W G Kunder, probably has access to the church's records, which will be able to confirm or disprove my theory. Perhaps you could write to him? Contact details are here:

There was a Methodist minister H. Ingham in New York in 1920. He was acting as a locum for a newly appointed minister to a large church so he could have returned to the USA the previous year.
