insulating an attic

house is an old victorian semi, with light into the hall from a rooflight. rooflight walls are formed from lath and plaster on 70mm studs, but no insulation.

I want to insulate using kingspan between the studs, and then overlaying further 25mm sheets of kingspan, fixing to the studs. Is it worthwhile doing the overlay, or should I jsut fill in between the studs.

Also, there is an old chimneystack reduced to under roof height. Again, no insulation. Should I also cover all this in kingspan, or is it not worth the effort?

As much as you like Puzzlers ............... to paraphrase Wallis Simpson........ "You can never be too rich, or too thin ......... OR have too much insulation"

Kingspan or Celotex, or have a look at the new multi-foil insulation . I use it a lot now....

Belt and braces .. a bit OTT but you will notice a small difference compared to FG roll or Rockwool.

Thanks for the replies. Had not thought on a foil solution. I assume I just feed it over the studs and lath and plaster, and staple to the studs' insides to hold in place?
More or less, Puzz. I was doing the inside of a roof once, and the client likened it to "stapling a duvet to the ceiling" lol

Check out my link ............ fitting instructions are on there.

will do, and it looks to be cheaper than kingspan / celotex, and will be easier and less messy. Thanks for the advice.
