Bunk Bed.

Hi there everyone, I am moving into a studio flat at the end of the year and as you can imagine it's not a very big room. I want to build a bunk bed to free up as much floor space as possible. Only issue I have is part of the tenancy agreement doesn't allow me to permanently fix solid structures to the walls. So it has to be of a reasonable height but also sturdy enough not to fall down. I know a simple solution would be to just buy a bunk bed but because it's the only room I want it to be a bit special like a feature almost any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

At the risk of seeming pedantic, I'll point out that (unless you're planning on inviting guests to stay overnight) what you want isn't actually a bunk bed (which has two beds, one above the other) but a cabin bed (which has a bed above a space which can be used as a desk area or for storage purposes).

It's worth noting though that our transatlantic cousins tend to refer to them as 'loft beds', so if you're googling for plans, that's an additional search term to use. (Annoyingly, 'cabin bed' seems to mean a bed built to look like a wood cabin to Americans, so there are loads of false leads when googling that term).

I'd be worried about getting up in the night, and either falling off the bunk or waking myself up by clambering up and down a ladder.

Why not try a futon so you can fold it up during the day to use as a sofa?

douglas, in my bedsit days I got a living room/bedroom with shared kitchen and bathroom.
Studio flats have a kitchen (often but now always within the living room) and full bathroom.
