I have never found cordless electric screwdrivers very successful.

Can anyone recommend a fairly cheap one, that really packs a punch?

I've got a Bosch IXO rechargeable one which comes with charger stand and a number of bits, which can either be used straight or in a pistol shape. It's put in and taken out some pretty stiff screws for me - I'm pleased with it.
I have a DeWalt and it's the best, and I do recommend it. It's not cheap though.
Go for "names" Mr Git .................... Makita, DeWalt, Hitachi etc.............
The unknown cheapo brands are rather gutless compared to these....... and ALWAYS go for 2 batteries unless you really only need it occasionally.
This is a good deal ..............

I use the 12v version of these ............ a few years old now, but they can still "screw" harder than I can ................. er .......... if you know what I'm saying ;o)
as a rough guide look at the voltage.

A 3.6V screwdriver will not be as powerful as a 7.2V one and if you really want a bit more punch then a 14.4V or above drill/driver combo is the way to go.

Chuck, I have a computer question and I need you to have a lot of patients with me today. :-) I'm heading over to technology.
