Has anyone heard of a "waspinator"? My local pub has lots of trouble with these collecting under the eaves and the owner is at his wits end about how to get rid of them. Someone suggested the said "waspinator" so what is it, how does it work and where can it be purchased? Thanks, S.O.G

Get a man in - playing with wasps is risky, the council charged me only about £35 to come and clear them out.

I had a nest in the loft a couple of years ago, you can buy a spray can of foam that eats into the nest and kills all of the wasps, it worked for me with no problems since.

When you've got rid of the wasps, try to leave the empty nest in place to prevent them coming back.

Apparently, wasps stay away when they see another nest. You can buy dummy nests for garden use!

I have a waspinator hanging in my plum tree. I got it last year from Wilkinsons, I think it was £7.99. Basically, it is a round, grey, material bag which is supposed to mimic a wasps nest. If you hang where the wasps are, they are supposed to be fooled into thinking that another bunch of wasps are already nesting in that particular spot, so they go away and look somewhere else. I had good success with it last year, I hung it up nice and early and we did not seem to have very many wasps on the fruit at all.

I bought two waspinators midway through last summer and within an hour of hanging them in the garden we were wasp free ! The £17 or so I paid on the net was an absolute bargain. No more jam jars/wasp traps nor jars of honey ; no more spoilt open air meals.
