Flowering potatoes

My Charlottes are looking great this year (despite the drought). They started flowering in late-April and have now produced some green buds the size of small cherry tomatoes. Are these 'pods' containing the seeds of future potatoes? If not, what?

These green buds are the fruit of the potato plant and are toxic. Potato is a member of the deadly nightshade family and this is the poisonous bit.

I think your potatoes are probably ready to dig. Have a little poke around with a small trowel and see if they are OK to harvest If so dig them up and discard the plants with your gloves on.

We've been eating ours every night for a week now, i grew foremost and they are DIVINE, so much better than the new potatoes you pay a fortune for in the shops!!!!.

They are seeds and they are poisonous.
