Manky apples

This years apple harvest looks like it's all going in the bin. They are cookers but I don't know what type as the tree was here before me. It looks like they all have some sort of disease, they have spots on them and there are a few that are brown and rotten. It's a shame because I had a very good harvest last year. Does anyone know what this is and can I stop it happening next year.
