I'm dogging sitting tomorrow for a gorgeous 24 week old Bull Mastiff.

So...what should I do with my cat? The cat will be 2 years old soon...

As the dog is still a puppy should I just let them get on with it?

Well if the cat beats up the dog, I'll blame you lot :-)
One slash of a cat's paw, across a dog's nose, is usually enough for the dog to realise who is the boss!
;-)

As far as is possible, keep the dog in one room, but let your cat roam wherever he/she wants to go. (They usually do that anyway!). Then it will the cat's decision as to how to deal with the presence of a dog.

Dogging sitting?

I was thinking that Chris...just wanted it confirming.

The last time the dog was here he wouldn't come in the house when he seen the cat.....he's soooo much bigger now though...

ELVIS....I'm having weird images going through my head now!!
If you can get some pictures of him can you post them?

My first dog was a Bull Mastiff crossed with a German Shepherd - he looked like Scooby Doo and had an absolutely lovely personality. He was my first love.

Yes Wolfe....I'll get my son to take some tomorrow. He's gorgeous....His name is Frankie. Is it you that has a cat called Frankie?
The cat will be fine. I once came out of my house to hear my neighbour shouting for help because one of my cats wouldn't let her two dogs out of the house for a walk. They were a rottweiller and a german shepherd and both scared stiff. The cat had attacked the rottweiller and made his nose bleed.
I am Susan, Frankie is in the avatar and his sister is Princess Merlin - her face is all black and she just looks like a black blob in photographs. She is the stupidist cat that I have ever known - almost as stupid as a chav.

:-)
sorry ummmm - I read your post as querying if it was me or the cat that was Frankie. It has been a l-o-n-g day.

That's good to hear Jan. I'll leave Brian to decide so...

Wolfe...I have you on FB. I'll send you a message when I've uploaded the pics :-)

loooooool
And one slash of a cats paw across the dogs eye could cause fatal damage. As it is only for one day, keep them separate.
I would certainly keep the pup under control during the initial meeting - remember, a cat is perfectly capable of blinding a dog as well as inflicting serious scratches
Question Author
We are doing.

Cats had a good nose at him and didn't seem overly bothered as long as he didn't get too close. He can't be left to wander round on his own anyway as he's too young...he's already got hold off a toilet roll and a shoe :-)
Well said jules77. I would never let a dog hating cat anywhere near my lovely friendly dog, I care too much about his welfare.
Question Author
How would I know I had a dog hating cat though?

Anyway....see my answer above.
