My lawn is JUST over needing a final cut before winter - there is the odd slightly longer bit too - I'd be grateful for advice as to whether or not I should just go over it with the blades at the normal height, which gives quite a short cut or should I raise the blades a bit? thank you
We never alter our blades at all, and the lawn is looking really good.
We gave what we hope is the last cut a couple of days ago. Will more than likely give it a couple more cuts before the real winter arrives .
Up the blades a bit at this time of year. As the grass is slowing down in growth if you cut it to short it won’t have time to heal before the first frost and it will get burnt. Ps Im in the uk
I have lifted the blades for the last cut but think it will need one more cut this weekend and then top dress and leave 'till we all come out of hibernation...have had at least 3 feet of snow the last two years..hope it is not so bas this year...
Dennis - did mine yesterday - forgot to raise the blades so lawn just has to sort itself out this winter. You must have a good wildlife/insect friendly garden if you have rotten logs etc - I've left a wild bit in one corner and it's amazing what's in there.
