Recently i've lost eight foot of laurel hedging,i was wondering what would be the quickest growing kind of hedging plant to replace them with,can't replace with laurels as they are to slow growing.

Possibly conifer hedging might fit the bill, you may like to consider (thuja plicata) western red cedar, I'd recommend this over leylandii every time!
