ouch, have just come inside from lopping down a huge ceanothus bush which was dreadfully in the way of a rotten fence panel which we will be getting replaced in a couple of weeks' time. We had to lop the ceanothus otherwise we wouldn't get the new fence panel in, the bush was just in the way.
To cut a long story short, we really want the ceanothus bush to die off, so we can replace it with something a little less large and not quite so quick-growing. Can anyone recommend something (that won't grow quite so quickly) and something which isn't so tall - the ceanothus just got too big.
Choisya, skimmia, the three shrubs in the front garden that have flowers and colour through out the year and whose name I can't remember for the life of me...... I'll get back to you when I've remembered......
thanks so much, will check all these out, but they all sound just what we're after. Off to the tip this morning with the remains of the ceanothus ......... aaaaaaaaaaah .....
