what would be the normal distance roughly between each marigold when planting in a border

6 - 8" apart....with 3" of slug pellets between them !!!!! lol
Just read that link above which says 14-16" apart for the smaller ones. Good grief, 8" max, 10 at a push if you don't have enough plants.
Bedding plants, I usually roughly measure about a trowel length between.
Depends if they are French marigolds or African marigolds. The African ones grow much bigger and would need the 14-16 inches apart.
