Hydrangea
At the end of April I was given a beautiful Hydrangea in full bloom and with buds to follow. It is now finished flowering and I was wondering if I could plant it out into the garden. If so where would it be best to site it, would it mind a shaded area? Thanks

Keep the dead flower heads on over the winter, as they offer some frost protection.

Our's (here in the western U.S.) is in fairly heavy shade and does well. It only gets perhaps 2-3 hours sun a day.
You didn't say what color it is... the color can be canges dependant on the fertilizer used.

We have a very large hydrangea in full sun it seems to thrive out there and at our last house we had one in the shade, so you should be alright wherever it is planted, make sure it is well watered before you plant it out and keep it well watered until it has established in your garden.
Remember to leave the flower heads on it as they will protect the flower buds throughout the winter months, trim them off in the spring when the leaves start to break into bud
