Herbaceous Border Plants

Can anyone suggest a nice flowering plant for the back of an herbaceous border? One that will stay upright, the bees like and is either white, yellow or blue.

Verbenas are nice plants and liked by bees, range of colours

or any other solidago. They're easy to grow, no need to water but do need dead heading at this time of year as they die back grey. If you just take the grey heads off they usually flower again on the lower part of the stem.

I can't say I've really noticed bee attention, tilly - my bees (such as they have been this year) have made for the other flowers in the garden - and there are only a few lone bees around at the moment, while they are in flower. Someone's been pollinating them, though! (They are pink however, not in your original colour pallette!)

I have loads of bees on my lavenders and they also seem to love the Michaelmas Daisies.

Oh yes, the lavender is a big attraction - I don't have Michaelmas daisies, all that's bringing them to the back garden at the moment is the (many) nasturiums!

Some attract them more than other, tony - my climbing rose is usually covered in 'em.

Some flowers don't produce a lot of nectar, Yont. The bees like nectar.

Well I knew bee's like nectar and that flowers produce nectar.

Phlox is a nice upright flower, needs no staking and our bees love them. In white - pink- and variety of other shades.

Thank you, julia. I have lots of Phlox. They are easy to grow and the bees do like them.

Bears Breech's (Acanthus mollis).
Bumble bees love it. Not many problems with this bold beauty!
