Dug over a bed a few weeks ago an unearthed a couple of snails which were yellowish/orangey in colour with brown bands round their shells. Never seen them before or since. Does anyone know the type? I don't think they are French coz I tried "voulez vous anglais" but they did'nt reply

If they were big chaps, they sound like the Roman snails we had in the garden when we were children on the Weald.

Yeah, sounds like banded snails. lots of varieties
