What is the smallest pot I could reasonably expect to grow sweetcorn in ?

If you're thinking of growing sweetcorn indoors you'll potentially have a problem because it's wind-pollinated:

However, as that page suggests, growing mini sweetcorn might well provide a solution:

That page recommends 8"/20cm spacing (and specifically mentions growing indoors in pots), so a pot of around that size would probably be ideal.

They are outside and currently in 8" pots on the deck

They ought to be in a square not a straight line, to assist with wind pollination.

I'd say that the pots would have to be pretty big to avoid them getting blown over by the wind, even if its a dwarf variety that your growing.

As I recall . the spacing's suggested on the packets state 18 inches apart, so therefore only one plant in an 18'' pot and arranged in blocks rather than rows, to aid polination.

if well watered and well fed, I'd say minimum of 10 litre pot. al plants for cross pollination.
