Potatoes
A friend (who has been a veg grower for years) has had a crop of potatoes that are semi-transparent & too hard to eat after cooking whether boiled or slow roasted.
Any ideas as to what the reason might be? he doesn't remember the variety name, they weren't his usual choice. Thanks.

Don't love him to death:))) Fascinating about the tortoises, I wonder if that's true, how would anyone know? We are so stupid to think of ourselves as the crown of creation. Now could a biddy do that, I ask of you, remember everywhere she's ever been or even why she just got up from the chair? Nope. Could a hippie? No way! However, if a foreigner happens to say cr1p, just once, instead of cr@p, it sticks like superglue to your British brains doesn't it ha ha ha... But I'm kinda proud to have created a British word:-D PS Woofy you don't have to keep your avatar forever and ever just because you got it from me. But it's very nice.
You can never have too many boots Neti. These are my favourites, Pandora (or Pandora Forever of Forever Pandora?) from Ten Points and I've deliberately bought one brown pair and one black cos I know how much I like them. Would have bought these blue ones too, had I seen them http://i51.tinypic.com/2qamgpl.jpg
Robi I dreamt "for you" last night...! Too sort of eradicate the horrible snow dream, I think. Will write it down tomorrow, it's just a tiny piece of a dream but this post is too long already. Beautiful garden piccy!
Thinking 'bout you Shaney, you're probably too tired to check in, I hope you and Mr S are both having a peaceful night.

Phew, he's had two mugs of tea and cheese and crackers and has gone upstairs and is taking himself to bed by slow stages. We were told maybe today, more likely tomorrow, he had to have a scan today to make sure that everything was where it should be and he's had his wound checked.
We have various appointments over the next 4 to 6 weeks to have scans, tubes removed etcet but he's home.
Shaney if you log on and read this, you and Mr S will get here too and you will stay in my thoughts and prayers until you do and after......
Thank you all for your support and good wishes...just wanted to share my good news with you as you have all been there during the less good bits.
going to give Sis a ring.

Thanks for that Woofy. Odd as it may seem, it does matter, we "need" to know the good bits too, thanks for recognising that. Now we're all just waiting for your husband to have a poo;-) (Don't tell him I said that, he'll stop you from using the AnswerBank!) (And I was just joking:) It's nice to think that he's eating and drinking.
Neti I considered joining the chain gang but they're actually quite dangerous, can get you stuck and make you lose your footing cos of that instead of cos of slipping. I'm going to put all my faith in these http://www.devisys.fi/en/index_en.htm

That's fantastic news woofy!! I bet they were the best cups of tea he's had in a while, hospital tea is wee :o) Have a peaceful night. xxx
Looking forward to my dream Kit, did it involve anyone called Clive? :o)
I used to do the jean alteration thing neti & I've done it with skirts too to narrow down the hips but these days I expect to be able to find at least one pair to fit. Funnily enough the best fitting pair I have at the moment were probably the cheapest I ever bought. I should have bought 2 prs.
Thinking of shaney xx

Always used to buy boys Levi jeans in my younger days, ha, ha!! 30/31" waist Levi's fitted me perfectly until I was expecting my son in my mid 30's. Lovely narrow, snug fitting jeans that fitted like hipsters (not the low slung hipsters of today) I remember when my measurements were 35 26 34. Always was out of proportion and never had an hour glass figure. I do have more in the way of boobs these days - wretched things get in the way!!
I think most of my weight, however, has been gained through being quite immobile with arthritis - I used to dash around now I hobble.
Look after that husband of yours Woofie, but please don't forget to look after yourself too! You have been through a lot.
Love those boots Swedie!!

Good Morning Everybiddy. It's a bit cold and dull today. Had to put my heating on. Not going to Tai Chi today but am meeting my friends for lunch.
I hope Mr S and Mr DH are comfortable today. You have been in my mind a lot. Take care of yourselves.
Talking about trousers. I wish they would do in-between sizes. I would fit a 13 perfectly
I can get in 12s like M&S sometimes.but I'm such a funny shape. 14 are a bit loose round the waist and way too baggy in the leg so I usually stick to jeans or those combat trousers from outdoor attire shops. I was ok in 14s before I had to lose a stone and bought from Per Una or Next.

Just bought some 16's from M&S, Jude. They are OK but not perfect. Could have done with a 15. Same with the Cotton Traders stuff really. The two new fleeces are an 18 (to allow for a jumper) and they are more like a 20 or even bigger. Never mind, I can get two jumpers underneath. I am sure I am not shrinking, I think sizes are getting bigger to make us feel better about ourselves!!
Hope Mr Woof is behaving himself Woofie, and hope you are doing some relaxing as well!! I demand that you look after yourself!! ;o)
Keep popping in to see if any news from Shaney! Will be thinking about her and Mr S. all day. Going again to garden centre to get yet more bulbs!! I love spring flowers!!
See you.

Mega good wishes Neti!! hope you and the Plumber have a wonderful day. DH is eating drinking and sleeping by turns and looks totally happy. I am pottering around quietly and enjoying having to not do anything...dogs are enjoying the sun and a little light squirrel observation. Shaney i hope you and mr S are okay too?

It was lovely to wake up, daughter had bought me a new winter jacket, a handbag and some gloves, and Mr N gave me some money, and as it's a big fiesta here (what else!) I will have to spend it tomorrow. Am looking for a cd player with usb for mp3, or 3months gym membership!
Thanks woofy and robi! It's wet, wet, wet!!!

Here's last night's dream. Simon Cowell asked to to join him on x factor and I was to meet him at 8pm and he asked me to wear a dress. Well I had silver laboutine shoes and a tweed trouser suit. Then I was in a cemetery and a huge snarling golden dog charged at me, and I was simply furious and stamped my foot and shouted at it to b*gger off and it did, then I was back in my very crowded bedroomwith elder sister looking for what to wear for simon, very very strange..Pick the bones out of that!!
