I am useless, not a clue when its comes to gardening, however I have to start somewhere I have a patio and lots of pots and no idea. I would also like to grow easy peasy veg just a few. I would like to have some colour so any flowers or plants that grow quickly in a pot and don't need to much assistance. I am going to buy everything on Sat. Any advice would be so much appreciated. Or can someone come round and do it for me!! Thank you
I am assuming you are a UK resident the only plants you can put in pots at this time of year are hardy plants (which can withstand a frost) ie primulas, winter pansies heathers
What part of the country do you live(north or south),how big is your garden and do you have any grass?
Try to keep the bright colours nearest to your house and
the the darkest rowards the bottom of the garden. It will make the gargen look longer.
Try going to www.gardens4you.co.uk
for plant info
Buy packets of HARDY seeds they can be planted out now
then in April/May you can buy summer bedding - busy lizzies, geraniums, (all in the garden centres, supermarkets as Summer Bedding) they will last until the frosts come (Sept/Oct) then you can plant bulbs for the spring next year - really good in pots.
