mouldy geraniums

This year instead of buying my geraniums as plug plants I bought some seedlings from the garden centre.
They took me ages to prick out, I put them into little plug plant trays and they seemed to be doing really well in the greenhouse.
I've just noticed though that a couple of them have flopped over and where it joins the soil looks mouldy.
What have I done wrong, and will the others all do the same? I've got some lobelia and begonias too but they look ok so far.
Thanks

sounds like damping off. This can be caused by over-watering. You can buy a chemical to help prevent this but the best way is to allow good air circulation and do not over-water the compost.
