Japaneese ACER Brown dry leaves
HI,i planted a Japaneese Acer which was well established,but after about 5 weeks the tips of the leaves have turned brown and are starting too dry out,i have followed all of the planting instructions(Watering--Soil--Position ETC) the Acer was given to me from a very dear friend,and would hate to loose it,does anyone have any suggestions...Most appreciated.......Weg......

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It may be just the move that's caused this, especially if you've had any hot sun (ha, fat chance!) or windy weather where you are....If it came from a nursery/garden centre it had probably been under cover, most acers usually are, so it's a bit of a difference to be under the sky! It should now acclimatise to it's new home, don't overwater it.

They don't like being in too much of a windy spot, either, so put it somewhere sheltered. I had one that got very sick once, because of the position it was in, but I moved it and it recovered. I've now had it for 18 years & it's moved house with us 3 times & now lives in a very big pot, outside my cottage, up a mountain in Wales! (And it's very healthy - surprisingly!)
