I'm trying to grow a pot of basil from seed. I've got loads of seedlings but the trouble is that, after a few weeks, they remain just that - seedlings. The pot's in a sunny window sill but our Glasgow garden flat is quite cool. Anyone got any ideas?

If you were to shine a lamp onto them (any old desk lamp), periodically, this will help - they just need a gentle nudge and if your flat is as cool as you say, then this is the only problem I can think of. Don't put the lamp too close though, just above around a foot from the pot.

Good luck!

Thanks, Roosi. I'll try it for a couple of hours every day (conscious of energy consumption).
