camelias

I acquired a camelia Christmas 2007, heavy in bud which flowered profusely. The subsequent years growth is a much paler green and to date I haven't seen any buds. The plant is in a pot with advised compost and against a south facing wall sheltered by the house from the east and drains well. What is the reason for the above?
