stepping stones [part 2]

As the stones [see earlier post] have sunk unevenly into the grass, I'll need to lift them and re-lay them. Would well compacted sharp sand be best to bed them in on? Think I used sifted garden soil when I did it originally. Thanks

I'd recommend a couple of inches of sharp sand/cement.
