Definitely. Now if you haven't done so already you can remove all the leaves on the stem up to the first truss. you don't need these leaves at all. Good luck.

OK - will do - thanks brenda. I've got the day off tomorrow, so I'll mess about & remove them all then.
ok = im confused whats a"truss"? I ask cos I have a flourishing tomatoe plant (none ripe yet but lots of green toms) ...the very botom leaves seem to be turning yellow....should i remove those leaves?
Yaayy lardy - they will be ripe for September (;-)) Have you given them names yet?
sorry evedawn - the truss is the same as you see in the shops when you buy toms on the vine. The part of the fruit where you get a show of fruit - so it is a bit like a hand of bananas
ahhhh thanks for info - gonna go and remove those yellow leaves now. by the way - WHY are the bottom leaves going yellow do you think?

Hi ttfn. Knew you'd be pleased. As there's 6 of them, I thought Dave, Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Titch (spot the extra comma in order to give me enough names)!
I am upset lardy, I thought the squidgy one could have been named after someone you like on AB <<sniff, sniff, sob>> yeah, gowan, say it - askyourgran/boxtops. You can go off peeps ya know.
Question Author
Oh alright - ttfn (the biggest one), boxtops, askyourgran, supersuezy, poodicat & Bobbisox. Happy now?
I can't wait to tell Big Sis - wooohooo. Where's me christening present list gone? Boy or girl? I suppose if it is to be red, then that is nearest pink so we will call it a girl. Now for a name - Cherry, Red Riding Hood, Scarlett, Pips-under-my plate - am I getting at all close?
Question Author
Strewth ttfn - exotic or what?
Pips-under-my-plate = exotic? Yer havin a larf. Why bother to go abroad if you thought that was exotic?
Mind you - I can't wait for the new avatar - ha ha ha
I have a small dwarf cherry Tom called Balconi and i've been eating those for a few weeks but my main crops (Aisla Craig) have just started turning red in the greenhouse.

Runners, french beans, courgettes and cucumbers are being produced by the bucket full....absolutely delish and this is my first season growing veg !!!!
Both our tumbling tomato varieties and the upright plants are now starting to ripen and in our house it's a daily complaint "Oh no, not another bl**dy courgette and cucumber!"
