My Budleia has finished flowering so should I prune it. It was a cutting from a Budleia growing wild so no idea what variety it is.

Rowan, what's a pannicle?
the flower head sorry...
Question Author
Thanks Rowan, I'll do that.
Its ok to cut off dead flower heads to get another flourish of flowers but dont hard prune until next spring http://www.gardenseek...buddleja_buddleia.htm
I'm with Honky Tonk, it's ok to prune off the dead flowerheads, but leave it until spring (after frosts) then prune back hard to desired shape.

Looks like the vote is for spring pruning, I'll try that, Thanks
We always hard prune our buddleia in the autumn. It hasn't done it any harm at all and it grows back every year to a height of around 10-12 ft.
the roots dont go deep (no tap root) and high winds can pull it over, prune now to avoid same. New shoots will grow that will protect it from frost.
