Cleaning cups and mugs

Can anybody give me a simple remedy for getting tea stains off cups and mugs please

A drop of bleach in water works as well as anything only takes about 5 mins soaking. Wash and rinse well after.

sprinkle some baking soda inside and then rub gently with a soft wet cloth, and the stain should come off easily. Or put a wedge of squeezed lemon into the cup and fill it with boiling water, then let it soak overnight. The stain should come off when you wash the cup in the morning. If the stains are very stubborn, you may need to soak them in a dilute bleach solution (eg, 1 teaspoon cholorine bleach in 1 cup of water) for about an hour, although this does leave a strong odour of bleach. Alternatively, you can dissolve a tablespoon of washing soda crystals (not baking soda) in warm water and leave it to soak for an hour - the brown film should then simply wipe off.

Sprinkle damp surface with table salt and rub gently with cloth.

Another way is to use salt or sugar and rub well into the cup, the grit of the salt or sugar can help clean the dark stain off.

A denture cleaning tablet works well. I feel more comfortable using that rather than bleach for some strange reason.

A dishwasher! Bit expensive though!!

My ol' mum used to use the bleach method. Me, I don't drink enough tea for the cups to stain.

Agree with treetops1, also you can use bicarbonate of soda on a damp cloth.This is also good for rinsing out vacuum flasks to get rid of odours.xxx

I drink black tea and strong black tea at that. Fortunately a dishwasher does get rid of the stains. Before I had one it was a problem.

Never forget to rinse all cups that are soaked in bleached---thoroughly

you can buy from most large supermarkets, or bargain shops a block of foam that is meant for this purpose
the one i use is called Erase away, but it sells under similar but different names.
i buy mine from Home bargains, and it costs 99p
just break a small piece off, wet it under the tap, and it cleans stains off cups, mugs, spoons, ss pans among other things. it works really well

Can't beat the old Domestos, as long as you give it a good rinse afterwards.

I try not to let them stand for too long once i've drunk the tea and wash them with a non-stick scourer and little bit of elbow grease. Adding a few soda crystals now and then gives then a sparkle, but I've never needed or used bleach. Far too corrosive and toxic for mugs and cups really.

Bleach for me, well diluted, no scrubbing, rinsed well

I small amount of bio wash powder before you go to bed and then a long run through with cold water in the morning always works for me.
