Painting Over Lining Paper

I have recently lined an interior wall with lining paper. To avoid any seams I lightly filled the seams with decorators caulk. I then painted with Next paint. About three weeks later the seams appeared again darker than the surrounding paper. I checked next website for the paint reviews and discovered this had happened to other people and they advised that the paint did not cover the filler and use better paint. I repainted again with Dulux two coats and now three weeks later the dark seams have reappeared. Am ready for screeching. Can anyone tell me if perhaps stain block would work. Have already been told should not have used filler but that is already done Any help would be much appreciated.

The caulk used must be leeching something into the paint. Perhaps not the good idea you thought it was.

I guess there are various options. You could try something that claims to block the problem. Not that I've tried it on paper but I know on wood knotting is usually used to stop knots bleeding into the paintwork. You could dig out the filler and use something else, but that may have issues too. Or you could paper over the top first.

I know you won't want to hear this but the best thing to do would be to strip it all off and start again. Get the seams as close together as you can and the paint should cover any slight gaps. Using a filler will only make the seams stand out more than not filling.

To but it in a nut shell, the filler is a different texture to the paper, ie the paint will soak into the paper dipper but not the filler whatever you do now will not make any difference. as Tresh as said
