Opion on underfloor bathroom heating please?

We are thinking of getting our bathroom re-done and contemplating using electric underfloor heating. Has anyone already got it? and What are the pros and cons? All opinions will be gratefully received

I read in a home style type magazine recently about "DEVIMAT" underfloor heating being pretty good. You could try ask jeeves or somthing to find our more. don't have any experience myself but it sounds like a good idea for a bathroom. i can just imagine being half asleep in the mornings and stepping onto a warm floor with bare feet Mmmmmm.!

It can work very well. But if you are setting it in concrete, my advice would be to install two sets, so as to keep one as a spare that you could connect up in case the first one fails for whatever reason.

Wether using the "mat" type of electric heating or the "tube" type carrying heated fluid, I found that it's not for the faint of heart when it comes to price and installation. Themat type, at least here in the U.S. runs about $10 to $15 per square foot and the tube tupe isn't a lot less. Both are demanding to install properly. If you're hiring it done assure the installer has experience doing them. The mat type uses low voltage electricity and the connectors are small and somewhat delicate. In fact most have at least two connectors in case one is damaged during installation. The tube type can be more difficult to install due to all of the components (here's one type http://www.nu-heat.co.uk/s.nl/it.I/id.7/.f?sc= 7&category=4 ). They can add a great deal of comfort, especially if installing tile floors in chilly bathrooms, but one has to evaluate the need and cost... in my opinion...

we have it in our kitchen and bathrooms and it is lovely, it gives an all over warmth and is nice if you go barefoot round your home alot as we do but somehow it isn't as good at warming the whole room as your normal rads so we are very indulgent and have both so we have the option of using one or the other or being really toasty with both on. A definate pro for in the bathroom if you have family that drop towels on the floor like my son does but if you have no other heating in your bathroom then there is nowhere to dry the damp towel. Get a heated towel rail too and you will be fine

I have it in my bathroom and it is nice and warm but my GF idea myself i think it was a waste of money very pricey i thought for a mediuml bathroom 3 x 4 metres

Thank you for all your advice. We are going ahead with electric underfloor heating. Charge for the unit is just under �200.00 with about the same for installing and putting down floor tiles. Lookimg forward to warm feet in the winter mornings.
