white rug needs cleaning

i have a rug i borght some time ago and its time to replace it again after a few months i dont want to do this anymore , so does anyone know any house hold items that i can use on the rug and make it white again ^ _ ^

I had a similar problem, and thought as it was so dirty and I needed to buy a new one, I would try to wash it.

I laid it out on the kitchen floor, and simply had a scrubbing brush, cloth and bowl of water with fairy liquid in, and it came up lovely...don't overwet the rug though.

Try a washing machine and detergent

i have a very pale yellow rug thats always getting dirty so i use just very hot water on it and vacuum excess out. Apparently you aren't supposed to use most detergents on rugs/carpets because a residue isalways left in the rug and this attracts the dirt back again (it sticks to the residues rather than passing thru the rug) more than cleaning with just plain water
