Thanks for your reply WEEAL.The bed itself is about 3 years old, are you saying it is the new mattress that is causing it to creak. We have already tightened the nuts and bolts but it has not made any difference.

the mattress shouldnt creak if its new tho, only older sprung type mattresses should creak

must be the slats against the frame or the frame itself im guessing.

incidentally you didnt need to start a new thread, just reply on your own thread using the same button as if youre answering someone elses question

Thanks for the advice on how to reply. My husband has checked the slats and they don,t seem to be catching on the frame,so we,ll just have to see how it goes
another option (tho messy) would be to put talcum powder where the slats join so they dont creak against one another, but honestly tightening up ALL the screws n bolts shouldve sorted it

youre not trampolining on it are you? LOL

I think we are both past the trampolining stage!, I will try talcum powder, but the slats don,t actually touch each other, there is a gap between them all. Thanks for your help
If I've got the gist of this right, as I didn't see the first post - it could depend on whether the slats are metal or wooden? Wooden ones tend to "give" under weight, and as you move around during the night, the shift in position could be causing strain on the wood, or it just creaks when pressure's lifted from them. Also, if the bed's on castors, movement could cause the same effect. Other than that, it has to be the mattress itself. Even a new one can start to creak if it's not very deep, or not sprung like Miracoil.
