Can't sleep for worry
I told my dad I'd paint his bathroom for him and took him a colour chart today. Told him what I thought was nice and he agreed with me on one colour scheme so went and bought some testers and painted small squares on the wall. Now I'm having second thoughts about the colour scheme and it's ridiculous but I can't sleep cus of it!!
I really want to do something really good but now I'm not sure about the colour, I was all excited at the prospect of decorating it and was coming out with all these ideas and now I think my ideas were all wrong and the colour scheme is going to look old fashioned and I'm scared that I am failing before I even begin.
Just out of interest what colour are peoples bathrooms?

Take heed of pasta...you cant go wrong with emulsion..
and. stop doubting yourself..im sure your dad will be greatful that you are hleping him out regardless of the colour scheme..
If in doubt...paint the whole place white..that way you have a blank canvas and can add to it if you want at a later date..

Hi gbg - x
Agree with you about painting in dark colours because it can make a room look smaller, but dark accessories can look fine. In one of ours, the walls are in a pale shell pink, and the carpet - yes, carpet!! - loo seat cover and bath curtains are in maroon. We've got a tall slim vase which stands on the floor with bullrushes in it, and a painting on the wall! It looks lovely!

Well in the brochure the colours looked more bluey so I went and bought the testers put them on the wall thought they were good, thought was great choice, get home look at the brochure again and think the colours look more greeny now and it reminded me of those horrible olive green old baths you get and I think one of the colours might be a bit dark cus I was gonna do it kind of 3 tones, one colour on woodwork and then two different colours on different sections of the walls. Carpet is kind of a greeny colour. Bathroom suite is white.
I don't know I just can't decide. I'm now thinking to go for a more bluer colour but can't decide. Do I do the whole room blue or do I do it blue and cream and then theres always neutral colours I could go for and just brighten it up with accessories.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who can one minute be so sure of something ( a colour in this instance) and the next minute have so many doubts. Argh frustrating lol

You are definately not the only one who gets into this predicament...
My parents were getting a snadstone fireplace removed from their living room that has been installed just after they moved to the family home over 30 years ago... after at least ONE YEAR of deliberation my mum decided to go for it and get it removed...this then led onto a full four months of pure stress(on my wee dads part) and indecision on my mums part...it took her at least one month to find a replacement marble fireplace which is very swish indeed but we actually had to have a family meeting to help her decide what colours to go for for the rest of the room and the carpet and curtains...My dad had to go to the doctor as we thought he had had a stroke due ot all the stress..thankfully he was ok and the living room is gorgeous now...lol..and my dad is much better in his lovely new showhouse style living room with his big giant bloody flat screen comfort digital tv, (that my mum surprised him with to kinda lessen the blow.)
You will get their Angel, just take your time and try not to stress about it...x

If the carpet is greeny...then stick with greens. you can choose an aqua -as i have .That ALWAYS looks fresh in a bathroom...and always go a few shades lighter than you think ,especially in a small room.keep the woodwork a crisp white.
What you want is:
-one main colour for the walls-aqua or similar
-white woodwork
-A slightly darker toning or contrasting accent colour.....this can be in accessories or towels

angel21, I have read some of your other post about how unhappy you are at work and it seems to me that your unhappiness is affecting your private life, you seem to get yourself in a right muddle over things that don't really matter. You should not be having sleepless nights over the colour of your dads bathroom. If you paint it and then you don't like it then it can be easily painted again, my bathroom is a mish mash of colours but I don't care as there are other things in life that take preferance. I am sure that your dad will be pleased with your efforts, please stop worrying. xx
