Is my hot water bottle still safe to use?

With the clocks having gone back last weekend and the cooler nights approaching, I brought my hot water bottle back into use last night after being stored away for the summer. When I emptied it this morning it left behind little bits of blue rubber in the sink. I’ve had the bottle for about 4 years, so why has this just started to happen now? Is my bottle still safe to use or should I throw it away? What should I do with it?

I would buy a new one,it sounds as if the one you have is possibly starting to degrade. You really shouldn't store it with water still in it anyway.
Fill it up to its Max capacity with Hot water and see if it leaks by laying it down on the Draining Board for a while.
They are cheap enough to buy anyway.
You could always get a Lodger to keep you warm for the Winter ! ;-))))))
This used to happen us, I think it's a combination of age and the fact that i used to put the water in straight from the kettle! Put a bit of cold water in with the boiling water (if that's what you use) and it shouldn't happen as badly
You've had it 4 years? Can I suggest that you spend two quid and buy a new one?
