I don't think too many do use it and if yours doesn't, the link is useless to you.
Use this link.. http:// www.pla nningpo rtal.go v.uk/in yourare a/searc happlic ations
...... which will take you to the Government website called planning portal, from where you can search for your own local authority planning information.

The planning portal doesn't host the planning decisions any more, it just has a list of local authority websites. The only reliable place to find out is to ask the Council that the property lies within the district of. Some Councils display some of the planning history online but not many display all of it. And I've never heard of the site in the first link so I'll be having a look at it, thanks!
I didn't say it did, Bushbaby - look at the SPECIFIC link I gave. It takes you the place where the average punter can find out where the planning information is on their OWN local authority website.
You and I may well be able our way around any old local authority website to find the relevant planning information, but they are all different, and I adjudged the average punter can;t do that.

Bushbaby . iF your local council is on there then its very handy, we have an application going on at the moment , very close to us with objections posted , I usually have a quick look every couple of weeks just to see whats happening locally, can be interesting especially re local shops opening, closing changing status etc. Rgds.
KJN - I'm a planning officer so no problem finding applications in my local area! Just always good to know what's out there to recommend to customers.
Bazzer - each local authority has its own policy about what they put online and what they only hold in paper format within the offices. Most at the very least will show you the property history list online but its quite hit and miss what documents you can actually view on each Council's website.
