I have always lived with parents and this is my first time just needs an idea of things, I know there is a deposit that a months rent in advance that need to be given just wondering if there is anything else... I am not asking for the cost of living as mine would be different to yours...
simply is there more then deposit and a months in advance that need to be paid before you move in...
Well, in addition to rent, you are going to need household goods, insurance for your possessions, pay for utility bills, council tax possibly if not in your rent, plust the ongoing cost of living - food, travel entertainment, clothing etc.
Rollo I don't think you have understood my question or I did not explain myself properly...
When renting a property a deposit needs to be given followed by a months rent in advance correct? Are there any other charges that I need to worry about???
There's a the cost of having a creditworthiness check done on you - perhaps 100ish.
Sometimes one has to pay 6 weeks of deposit rent in advance, not 4.
Rollo has mentioned the main other charges associated with renting a property.
The deposit is usually the equivalent of one and a half months rent. You also have to pay one month's rent in advance. Any other costs will depend on whether you choose to rent through an agent or directly from a landlord. Directly with the landlord is cheaper. If you rent through an agent they will possibly charge you for making up the agreement (about 80), the credit check (about the same cost) plus inventory and check in costs. All these are variable but if you rent directly from a landlord you'll avoid most of them. For instance, we only charge 30 for the credit check (2 people) and no other costs. If you go through an agent, read the terms and conditions carefully so you know what you'll be liable to pay for throughout the tenancy.
